Recently I have been fortunate to inspect a number of 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sports. With only 401 manufactured these are relatively rare but most are still in existence, with some still regularly ridden. And even fifty years on previously unknown examples are occasionally still being unearthed. While there are few totally original examples left, as the 1974 750 SS is now quite valuable restored examples are now generally fairly correct with most of the genuine parts. But I have also come across a few bikes with a question mark regarding the authenticity of engine and frame numbers along with a dubious history. One thing that is becoming more apparent is that potential buyers for higher end collectables like the Ducati 750 SS “Green Frame” are now demanding more than correct numbers and components; they also want documented and verified provenance.
